The Church of Mercy of Mértola receives tomorrow, Thursday, 11, at 9:30 pm, the concert of the Dude, integrated in the "Month of Music", that takes different sonorities to several spaces of the county until December.
This project of João Morais aims to link his music to the land that saw him born, Portugal, arising from it the relationship with the viola campaniça, a traditional root instrument that is part of the Portuguese centenary and cultural history.
Also known as viola alentejana, the viola campaniça was the musical instrument used to accompany the celebrated songs to the estranged, or "cantes a despique", at the feasts and fairs of the Alentejo.
João Morais, a musician since 1988, met viola campaniça after almost 30 years playing guitars from outside, having released the album «Longe do Chão» in 2017.
"Dude's compositions may sound fado, but they are not fado, they may sound traditional music, but they are not traditional music, they are a hybrid of everything and more," says Rastilho Records.
