The Finance Ministry hastened to comment on the meeting with the teachers that motivated criticism, on the way out, of Mário Nogueira da Fenprof.

But, says the government, "it was verified that the union structures maintained their position of intransigence, not accepting to negotiate anything other than the full recovery of 9 years, 4 months and 2 days, thus refusing any negotiating opening." According to Mário Centeno's Ministry, "this solution was expressly rejected by the Assembly of the Republic in the vote in the specialty of the State Budget, and it was only approved to keep the negotiation open, leaving the mold of this negotiation totally open."

The Government adds that "it can not accept that teachers are harmed".
