There is an unknown mass below the surface of the Moon. The "anomaly" is five times larger than Hawaii - News

According to astronomers, the "anomaly" is housed about 300 kilometers below the surface, and study author Peter B. James says it is about five times larger than Hawaii's largest island.

The discovery creates strangeness among scientists who found this mass below the largest crater on the Moon at the South Pole – Aiteken. The origin of this anomaly could be the impact of an asteroid that formed the crater, more than 4 billion years ago.

That's when they were analyzing the gravity changes around the moon that astronomers discovered this mass. "When we combined the data from the lunar topography with the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter we discovered this unexpected mass below the surface," explains the astronomer.

The crater can not be seen from Earth since it is located on the hidden face of the moon at its south pole. The basin is considered one of the best natural laboratories to study the impact of asteroids and catastrophic events that have helped shape the creation of rocky planets and their moons.

In addition to the enthusiasm of the astronomers for the discovery, also the fans of the game Destiny are attentive to the phenomenon and in Twitter there are several messages to highlight the fact, that seems to have left the script of Destiny 2.
