Luís Romão Zorba was born in Lisbon in 1970, but has lived in Albufeira since he was two years old, considering himself a convinced Algarvian and albufeirense. He always liked painting and in the middle of 2001 he started his experience in the art world as a self-taught person. About ten years ago, he started to take on painting as an almost daily activity. Without technical training, he uses very little brushes, since he is essentially interested in the textures and movements that the materials can create when used in a “rough” way.
Spatulas, paint projection or “drip painting” are some of the mechanisms used to reach the objective, almost always final and not pre-defined. He participated in the Competition / Exhibition “Colors and Forms of Our Artists” in Albufeira in 2006, 2011, 2014 and 2016, and in 2011 he was classified in 3rd place, with the screen “Self-Portrait”.
Since 2009 it has had several individual exhibitions in several Art Galleries in the Algarve, of which the Galeria Pintor Samora Barros is part. Of note is his participation in the following art shows: international group exhibition Fiart in Granada / Spain (2013); collective exhibition with UPP-United Photo Press & Painters in Japan (2014; collective exhibition with UPP-United Photo Press & Painters at MIAB-Madeira International Art Biennale (2014); collective exhibition with UPP-United Photo Press & Painters on Casa da Cultura in Setúbal (2014 and 2016); collective exhibition with UPP-United Photo Press & Painters at Porto Art Gallery (2015); collective exhibition with UPP-United Photo Press & Painters in Málaga – Spain and, his participation in the UPP international book in 2014 and 2018.
