The 8th Congress of APECATE – Portuguese Association of Congress, Tourism Entertainment and Events Companies will be held from 6 to 8 February in the city of Faro, around the theme «Tourism and Democracy».
“It is expected the clear and direct formulation of the main problems that affect the tourist entertainment sector and the events and congresses, the joint search for solutions and, above all, the definition of strategies that allow the businessmen and their representatives a greater participation in the decisions. that affect them, ”says the association in a statement.
The opening reflection of the congress will be in charge of the Portuguese ambassador to UNESCO, António Sampaio da Nóvoa.
Then, at a round table, the leaders of the main tourism sector associations – Pedro Costa Ferreira by APAVT, Raul Martins by AHP, Ana Jacinto by AHRESP and António Marques Vidal by APECATE – will discuss, among themselves and with the assembly, cross-cutting issues. the subsectors they represent, "with a view to defining a common work agenda for 2020-2025".
The congress also includes panels on the challenges of digital, the value of tourist entertainment and events in the promotion of Portugal's destiny, the “hardships” of entrepreneurs with taxation and the “inevitable” commitments of entrepreneurs with good practices that guarantee the sustainability of the region. your action.
The last afternoon is reserved for sectoral debates promoted by the two sections of the association, as well as for the panel “Another look”, with personalities and professionals from other sectors and with visions on tourism that constitute “fundamental contributions to help the sector. to dimension and contextualize the universe of their concerns ”.
