Tourist vessel observed 6 Orcas south of Benagil beach

Today, August 14, at about 10 am, the tourist vessel Insónia Dream Wave observed a group of 6 Orcas (Orcinus orca) traveling west about 4 miles south of Benagil Beach, in the municipality of Lagoa.

According to what was observed, the animals were between 6 and 8 meters long and within the group, 2 males and 4 females were identified, with no offspring.

Orca is a member of the larger dolphin family and is a versatile super predator, which includes prey such as fish, molluscs, birds, turtles, seals, sharks and larger animals when hunting in groups, such as whales .

A lucky group of tourists aboard Dream Wave's Insomnia had the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic observation of these imposing animals, and it should be noted that the vessel always maintained a safe distance from the animals, respecting what the law and common sense demand .
