The Beach Fair, a name by which it has always been known, originated from the primitive place where it was held in front of the Monte Gordo sands in 1765.
Later, in 1774, the date of the founding of Vila Real de Santo António, it was transferred to the city, earning the function of social and economic enlargement and aiming to promote fisheries.
