"Turismo" opens season of Cineteatro Louletano

On September 12, at 9:30 pm, in absolute debut in the south of the country, Cineteatro Louletano opens its new season with the play “Turismo”, by the playwright and stage director Tiago Correia (one of the most recognized of the new generation), in a co-production with the Municipal Theater of Porto. This presentation is part of the cycle “Implikação”, which was created to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Cineteatro (1930-2020) and contribute to the production of critical thinking and reflection around the themes that make up its artistic program for the biennium 2020-2021 and that are clearly up-to-date and pertinent.

After a pre-start of the season on September 8, with a talk, exhausted, around the triangle “tourism, art and pandemic” (in which the director Tiago Correia, the photographer Filipe da Palma and the architect and university teacher participated) Teresa Valente), the presentation of this disturbing creation puts the emphasis on what is changing in our cities. This new creation by Tiago Correia for the company A Turma intends to explore the side effects of tourism and its influence on human relations – the much discussed gentrification, very observable in cities like Lisbon or Porto, is perhaps the process that best materializes the struggle of classes in the contemporary urban space, because social substitution takes place at the level of class in a given community.

“Turismo” was born from a transdisciplinary research and experimentation process, developed between Porto, Loulé (a southern city where the director and director Francisco Lobo were in an artistic residency in the summer of 2019) and Barcelona, resulting in a new dramaturgy born from premises plurals shared either with professionals from other artistic and scientific areas or with multiple local interlocutors.

The play lasts approximately 120 minutes, without a break, it is intended for people over 14 years old and the ticket price is 10 euros, increasing to 8 euros for those over 65 and under 30, with a Pass Card. Applicable friend.

Cineteatro Louletano already bears the Clean & Safe seal awarded by Turismo de Portugal, assuming the commitment to meet the hygiene and safety requirements of visitors and employees defined according to the guidelines of the Directorate-General for Health and which also fit into the Contingency Plan of the Municipality of Loulé.
