The basketball match between Ginásio Olhanense and CD Póvoa, counting for the Portuguese Cup and scheduled for today, Sunday, was canceled after two positive cases of the new coronavirus were detected in the Algarve team.
The Póvoa de Varzim delegation was already traveling to the Algarve yesterday, Saturday, when it was informed of the postponement by the Portuguese Basketball Federation, having reversed.
"Following a positive test to Covid-19 by assistant coach Hugo Guerreiro and our captain Rui Carvalho, the club activated its contingency plan," said the Olhanense emblem on Saturday, in a statement.
After information transmitted by the local health delegate, João Camacho, about the procedures to be adopted, the team was immediately in prophylactic isolation and will be subjected to a battery of tests.
The Olhão club, ranked 5th in the South Zone of Proliga (second tier), also informed that it will proceed to the immediate disinfection of its pavilion.
