A delegation from the University of the Algarve (UAlg) visited the National Evangelical University in the Dominican Republic for a week, identifying opportunities for cooperation.
Throughout the stay, the delegation met with those responsible for this institution, namely focusing on innovation, entrepreneurship and transfer of technology, health and social sciences, among others.
The entourage was coordinated by the Office of International Relations and Mobility (GRIM), Marleni Azevedo, with the coordinator of the Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Division (CRIA), Hugo Barros, and with faculty and researchers from the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Medicine (DCBM) and the Center for Research in Biomedicine (CBMR), Sandra Pais and Álvaro Tavares.
At the research level, experiences were exchanged in the area of aging that allowed the evaluation of joint studies.
The Portuguese delegation also had the opportunity to teach classes on the following topics: Entrepreneurship (Hugo Barros, CRIA), Erasmus Opportunities (Marleni Azevedo, GRIM), Musculoskeletal disorders associated with aging (Dietetics students), Sarcopenia and evaluation anthropometric study in the elderly (Sandra Pais, CENIE – International Center on Aging).
At the same time, the XV International Congress of Scientific Research was promoted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT) of the Dominican Republic, where the delegation had the opportunity to participate through several oral communications.
This visit was carried out under the Erasmus ICM Merging Voices project, funded by the European Erasmus program, and the CENIE project, funded by the POCTEP operational program.
