Vale do Lobo Open II runs out of Portuguese tennis players

Pedro Araújo and Francisco Cabral, the only two Portuguese tennis players who were still in the competition, were eliminated today in the singles quarter-finals of the Vale do Lobo Open II Magnesium-K Active.

The $ 25,000 tournament in monetary prizes, organized by Premier Sports with the support of the Portuguese Tennis Federation, was thus left without Portuguese in the singles table.

Two weeks after reaching the quarter-finals of a $ 25,000 tournament for the first time, Pedro Araújo (1154th in the ATP ranking) was looking for the first semi-finals, but failed to surprise the German Sebastian Fanselow (435. º), who lives and trains in Lisbon, and lost 6-2 and 7-6.

Shortly thereafter, it was Francisco Cabral's turn to play the first quarter-finals of singles in races for $ 25,000 and the outcome was similar: the 24-year-old from Porto was fought by the Frenchman Tak Khunn Wang (624th), who won by double 6-2.

In the remaining matches of the day, the former «top-70» ATP Kenny de Schepper overcame the Austrian Maximilian Neuchrist, by 7-6 and 6-2, and the Japanese Kaichi Uchida overcame the Frenchman Louis Dussin, by 6-0 and 7 -6, to confirm the status of first seed.

Alignment of the semi-finals of singles, to be disputed on Saturday:

[1] Kaichi Uchida vs. Kenny from Schepper

Sebastian Fanselow vs. Tak Khunn Wang

Final of pairs discussed among compatriots

In the pair variant, the title will be discussed between four French tennis players: Antoine Escoffier / Hugo Voljacques defeated Jordi Mas de Ugarte / Jose Joaquin Miranda Cisneros 6-3 7-5, while Kenny de Schepper / Quentin Robert defeated Alexis Musialek / Hugo Pontico, for the 6-4 and 6-1 partials.

Vale do Lobo Open II is the last in a series of three events in the Algarve region in the last three weeks.
