After Aveiro, Lisbon and Vila Nova de Gaia, it is the turn of the city of Viseu, to host, this 2019, the celebrations of the National Day of Gastronomy. Moment to, in several stages, concentrated in the Solar do Dão Wine, to taste and realize the Portuguese cuisine.
Two days of celebration that include gastronomic shows, culinary itineraries, debates, harmonies with Dão wine and a Solidarity Dinner, on June 9 (9:00 pm), with the presence of several producers and Portuguese Confrarias. The proceeds from this dinner will flow to a social solidarity association in Viseu. Tickets will soon be on sale on here.
The celebrations of the kitchen of national labor extend to all the county of Viseu with 14 restaurants of that region to prepare menus specially designed for this celebration of the Portuguese eating. List of participating establishments can be consulted on here.
On the two days of the initiative, the entrance to Solar do Dão Wine is free (between 11.00 and 20.00) and open to all those who wish to join moments like "Troféu Portugal", a kitchen competition that brings together chefs from professionals, products and producers, all on the same stage with the aim of showing what is done in our country. For this, the competitors have the challenge of menu consisting of a soup, a snack, a regional cuisine dish and a contemporary cuisine dish that will be evaluated in its entirety by the jury.
Also in the ambit of the National Gastronomy Day, the contest "Young Talent of Gastronomy" takes place. In this, four students of the Schools of Hospitality and Tourism of Portugal and four students of the Center of Professional Formation of Galicia are challenged, to prepare live a dish with traditional Portuguese products.
It is recalled that in June 2015 the Assembly of the Republic unanimously approved a draft resolution establishing the National Gastronomy Day on the last Sunday of May of each year.
