Coach Luís Castro said today that Vitória de Guimarães will give a "positive response" to the defeat in the previous round, with a "good performance" against Desportivo de Chaves of the 28th round of the 1st Football League.
The coach admitted that the sixth-ranked Victorian side of the season, with 42 points, was not at fault for Santa Clara (1-0) in the Azores and returned to difficulties away from home – seven defeats in that condition – but was convinced in the reaction of his players before the flaviense team, 17th of the race, with 24 points.
"We know that in order to achieve [Liga Europa], the paths are a lot of dedication and some suffering. [O sofrimento] This is going a little further than we expected. We want to return to the good exhibitions. I am sure that the team will give a positive response to their adept crowd, "he said at the pre-match preview conference scheduled for Saturday at 18:00.
Luís Castro considered that the minhota team have had difficulties in reversing negative results due to the "lack of space provided by the opposing teams" in a situation of advantage – the only change happened in the field of Porto (3-2) – and admitted that he considers changing the 'eleven' for the duel with the transmontanos.
"Whenever we look at an opponent, we look differently than we left behind. Let's change something along the season, from game to game. [a mudança], we always ponder. Whether we're going to do it or not is different, "he said.
The 'helmsman' also warned that Chaves, now trained by José Mota, presents "different dynamics" than he had with the two previous coaches – Daniel Ramos and Tiago Fernandes -, and is now a team that bets on the "side runners" and the "offensive depth", but does not abdicate the inner game and has more quality than the place it occupies.
Vitoria will receive Chaves, but they still do not know if they will do so at the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques after the interdiction of a game applied by FPF following the pyrotechnic articles found in the venue, during the match with Sporting Braga, eighth round (1-1).
The coach said that during the work week he did not put the possibility of not playing in Guimarães and considered that it would be a "disappointment" not to have the support of supporters who have been "extremely dedicated" and not be able to help the victims of the hurricane Idai, in Mozambique – the ticket revenue reverts to the cause.
"We want to see a full stadium, with the people next to the suffering of the others. It does not need a game for people to put themselves next to those who are in suffering, but like other stadiums, the D. Afonso Henriques Stadium will prepare itself, to be filled in a game of solidarity, "he said.
Asked about rumors from the sports press about the eventual exit of Vitória at the end of the season, Luis Castro said he will continue to keep "the maximum attention" to his daily work and that he feels supported by the Victorian SAD.
"When I feel that people are not happy with my work, there is no need for anyone to tell me anything. [para sair]. Hypocrisies are not part of my daily life. Everyone who surrounds me thinks the same way. But the most important is the Vitoria institution, "he said.
Vitória de Guimarães, ranked sixth, with 42 points, receives Desportivo de Chaves, 17th, with 24, in a game scheduled for 18:00 on Saturday.
