With the cancellation of the Rally Casinos do Algarve, taking into account the pandemic conditions existing in our country, the Armindo Araújo / Luís Ramalho team in Skoda Fabia R5 EVO, is declared National Rally Champion 2020, having contributed to this result three victories and two second place, in the top five results among the six contested rallies.
After winning the fifth absolute title in 2018, Armindo Araújo finishes the 2020 Portuguese Rally Championship (CPR) with the conquest of his six-time champion, clearly standing out as the most victorious driver in the sport.
“This title is, without a doubt, the best way to celebrate these two decades where I have always tried to fight for achievements. It was an atypical year, but we were the team that most won on land and asphalt, we got the most points and we showed that we were the most competitive ”, started by saying Armindo Araújo when he learned of the cancellation of the Algarve event, which celebrates this year 20 years of career.
With a completely new project, but with the same goals as always, the 2020 season was a winning bet. “This title is not just mine and Luís's, it belongs to my entire team, my partners and especially The Racing Factory, which has done an excellent job all year. Only the commitment of all allowed the objectives to be achieved. Congratulations and a huge thanks to everyone ”concluded the pilot from Santo Tirso.
“As Armindo said, this achievement was the result of the work of many people and without them nothing would be possible. We are obviously very happy with the championship win ”, said Luís Ramalho who sailed in the third season Armindo Araújo, not hiding his satisfaction with the conquest of his second absolute title.
Taking into account the ratings presented on the website of the Portuguese Federation of Automobilism and Karting (FPAK), the pair Armindo Araújo / Miguel Ramalho ends the season with 148.26 points, ahead of the team Bruno Magalhães / Carlos Magalhães (Hyundai i20 R5) with 138.63 points, staying on the lowest step of the final podium, with 106.27 points, the Algarve duo Ricardo Teodósio / José Teixeira (Skoda Fabia R5 EVO), who expected in “their race” to fight for the victory in it and finish the atypical 2020 championship in second position.
