Sebastião Santana, head of the National Federation of Trade Unions of Public and Social Workers, said that the Fernando da Fonseca Hospital is currently working on minimal services, and in the operating room only urgent and emerging situations are being addressed.
The workers claim the application in this hospital of the collective agreement of work that is in force in all the EPE hospital units of the country.
The workers also claim the minimum wage of the Public Function (635 euros) when Amadora-Sintra is paying 600 euros.
Sebastião Santana, in declarations to the Lusa agency, lamented that in these aspects the hospital is "an island in the SNS".
A few dozen workers began to focus at the hospital entrance before 12:00, a form of protest to bolster the strike that lasts until the end of today.
