The first pitch of the new academy of Farense, located in São Brás de Alportel, was premiered today by the team of initiates (under-15) of the Algarve club, currently ranked 14th in the 1st league of football.
“Our under-15 athletes, the future, had and gave us the pleasure of kicking off what will certainly be one of the biggest and best academies in Portugal and beyond”, highlighted the Faro club, in the social networks.
For Farense, December 12, 2020 will be “dated as a historic day for the club”, the day when the dream of building a gym “started to become tangible and all the effort, work and dedication was rewarded ”.
The club's president, João Rodrigues, was watching the first training session in the company of other officials, and spoke a few words to the young athletes. Soon, the senior team will be able to train on the new floor.
Farense's new academy, whose final cost is estimated at 10 million euros, has only one lawn ready for now, but the works are continuing so that, in 2021, there are two more lawns – out of a total of eight planned – and support structures (changing rooms, gym, medical office and cafeteria).
A residential area, for the senior team and training athletes, and a hotel unit, for the training of foreign teams, are planned for the last phase of the project.
